Creative Nomad Explorer.....What :(
Quote: I had a problem of tags some time ago. I was ripping my cd's on a computer with no internet connection, so all my tags had to be written manually.. That's a time consuming task I say You don't need the internet to put id3 tags in your mp3s. What's so hard in typing in CDex or...- timberwolf

Should I get a 30GB Zen Xtra for $188?
If you're the kind of guy who fiddles with the gadget after every song looking for the next one to hear then the ipod is it for you since they say it's the easiest to navigate. Myself, I listen to albums or playlists that are so long it would take hours to finish. Once I've chosen waht to hear...- timberwolf

Zen Extra owners give me a quick rundown of + and -.
Quote: That's using Nomad Explorer, which is pretty hit-and-miss. The software doesn't show any of the files already on my Xtra, but allows me to copy over files freely. It's very odd, and I can't seem to fix it, even with the latest software and firmware reinstalled twice. I wouldn't...- timberwolf

opinion on nirvana?
Quote: Why has there been no new rock explosion from the outside after a period of 10 YEARS since Kurt Cobain died? In the 40 years since rock has existed, why have the last 10 years been absolutely devoid of any new sounds/artists from breaking through? It's simple, the channels through...- timberwolf

I went to the library and found a treasure trove!!!!!!
Been there, done that last year. between the three communiy libraries less than three miles from my home, I got almost all of the music I was looking for except on heavy metal of which they don't have much collection. I was also trying to winnow my cd collection and months ago I sold about...- timberwolf

It’s almost mid-2Ks and rock n' roll is still dead :(
Quote: I guess you could say I don't necessarily hate any certain period of music (except most 80s, heh), I just hate bad music. And there's a LOT of bad music on the radio these days. :/ Why do people give the 80s such a bad rap? People have such a short memory that they don't...- timberwolf

Waters, Gilmour, Barret, Wright or mason?
I vote for all of them. Waters has got a ton of great ideas and may write the majority of their material but he needs Gilmour and the rest to make it musical and listenable. I find all his solo efforts unlistenable and it's not as if I haven't tried liking his music (I keep buying his albums...- timberwolf

WAV vs MP3 + Lame - My Experience
Quote: 5 minutes at hydrogen audio tells me that they're more crazy than we are. It's a matter of perspective really. It's like going to a website of different interest, like arstechnica for example, and mention that you're an audiophile and they would snicker at you and your fellow...- timberwolf

WAV vs MP3 + Lame - My Experience
Quote: The problem with all that ABX testing at hydrogenaudio is those folks are not audiophiles. God knows what kind of equipment they are using. If you have a cheap set of headphones connected to a cheap soundcard, then the results may be valid. Hell even 64 kbps files may be...- timberwolf

Which is first? The audiophile or the music lover?
Quote: Well you can stop thinking that the audiophile can't relax and immerse him or herself in the music. Most of my friends are audiophiles and have been for many years. The time spent listening is nothing like you have thought it to be. I said that it was just a thought, I know I...- timberwolf

Which is first? The audiophile or the music lover?
Quote: Originally posted by soundboy If the music is good, I can enjoy it even on an AM radio. The gear is there to serve the music, not the other way around. I'm going to re-echo this too since it perfectly describes my thought on it. Sometimes I think that the audiophile...- timberwolf
