This is my current equipment: Focal Elegia and a stack full of #schiit.

I found the Dali IO-12 to sound quite flat and boring in passive mode. I was not convinced by that. In Bluetooth mode it was the best sounding Bluetooth headphone I have tried, that is for sure. But its passive performance was not as convincing to me unfortunately...

The advantage of a YouTube link is that just about anyone can open it, but sound from YouTube is still generally of crappy quality in my experience. :'( Well, perhaps this link is better, don't know yet. :wink:

I tried this in a store the other day although not with the official Apple adapter but a 3d-party alternative. The headphones in question complained on having only 10% of battery power but they did play from my phone via that adapter, and the phone battery was draining unusually fast!

That's a pretty good review, thanks for sharing! I only wish that they'd done a more extensive comparison to the Focal Bathys, which they have reviewed 3 months ago.

I don't yet have the Dali's, I'm still considering if I can spend the money on them or not, but what I can say is that the PC headphone jack will be worst. The USB of your PC will sound most like the designers wanted the headphones to sound and so you might find that to sound best. But...

Hey, I'm very glad with all the tests and comparisons you have done. In passive mode, what you hear is the sound that your DAC+AMP produce and you can tune that to make the headphones sound better. Perhaps those people who find the Dali IO-12 amazing in passive mode, have a DAC+AMP...

I'm wondering, if that was measured in Wired Active mode, or Wired Passive mode (and if Wired Active, if it was via USB-C or the analogue wire). I would expect a difference between analogue and BT mode if only based on how your headphone-amp drives the headphones vs how the internal DAC / AMP...

Thanks for your long answer! I appreciate it very much. The more I think about it, the more I think that these are probably not the headphones for me. But perhaps their more expensive brothers, the L700a will be. The price on that one is coming down quite a bit recently.
