HifiMan HE6 V2 Adorama
Just received a pair from adorama which I sent back for replacement the other day. I'm pretty sure the right driver was stuck. When playing low frequencies at higher volume there would be buzzing in the right cup. Tested by switching the L/R cables and wearing the headphones backwards without...- ThusWeHave

Anyone happen to have (or able to produce) a video of the Hifiman Edition XS and VZR Model One performing the paper test from the first page? Reading good things about both.- ThusWeHave

The PANASONIC RP-HTF600-S headphones. More fun than the HD650?
A question about burn in.. A lot of folks are mentioning that they "continue to open up" the more they are used. I have read that burn-in is more effective at moderate-to-high volumes. As I usually listen at relatively low volumes (30-40% on ipod, <20% on laptop) should I continue to burn them...- ThusWeHave

Headphones for girlfriend
I'm looking at (shipped): $54.90 for the Beyer DT-235 $52.49 for the AKG K518 (equivalent in price to the Beyers as I see it) $73.63 for the Audio Technica ATH-ES55 The SJ5 was a bit more costly unless I ordered from Japan, which probably isn't a good idea at this point. ...- ThusWeHave

Thanks for the recommendation. I just read through this thread comparing the SJ5s to the K518s: http://www.head-fi.org/t/218198/ath-sj5-vs-k81dj/120. Some prefer the sound of the SJ5s, some prefer the K518s..it seems like the bass is the biggest difference. The SJ5s sound more comfortable...- ThusWeHave

Thanks a lot for the input. Yeah, the Audio Technicas and both Senns are a bit above our agreed-upon gift budget of $60 (so it's not just me being cheap ). She wasn't a huge fan of how my HTF-600s look, so I don't know if she'd go for the HTX7. I did read about the short cable on the AKGs. A...- ThusWeHave

Thanks for the input. As far as mods go, I was thinking about removing the foam pads (after she's already opened the gift, of course) since it would be easy to do and members from the thread you linked and from the K-81 appreciation thread...- ThusWeHave

Using a frequency generator I can hear below 20 Hz, but only faintly unless the volume is turned up a fair amount. Do many songs use tones that low?- ThusWeHave

@Marximus I've never tried supraaural, but I assumed I'd prefer circumaural as well, so I went with circumaurals when buying for me. I don't know if my girlfriend would prefer one to the other. The K518s are listed as circumaural.. maybe for those with small ears? Here's the...- ThusWeHave

Quote: From reviews, multiple users have said the Shures are bass-anemic..does this lessen the listening experience? They are often recommended in many threads, The Beyers look like a potential good choice also. Their looks might be the dealbreaker. Quote: In...- ThusWeHave

Thanks, I'll look at the K518s some more. Maybe the comfort can be improved by stretching them out a bit? I'm not sure if she'll be a fan of the PortaPros' rather unique look. I'll read some more reviews though. Quote:- ThusWeHave

Hm..if I get those in purple ("fuchsia" I guess) I'd definitely have a winner in the appearance category. Reviewers have said they clamp hard and the bass tends to cover up the rest of the sound spectrum though...is this true? I really appreciate all the input. I hope I don't sound like...- ThusWeHave

The PANASONIC RP-HTF600-S headphones. More fun than the HD650?
Head-Fi newcomer here. I'm a big hip-hop fan. Having recently put subs in my car, and owning only ibuds, I wanted a pair of headphones with more bass. Being a college student, I also didn't want to spend too much, Googling around led to this site and this thread. I narrowed my choices...- ThusWeHave
