[Impression] S.M.S.L SD-793II Audio DAC + Headphone Amplifier

I would get WIMA MKS2-50 4.7uF caps, as a drop-in replacement for the original caps, and be done. https://www.reichelt.de/MKS-2/MKS2-50-4-7-/3/index.html?ACTION=3&GROUPID=7169&ARTICLE=31930&OFFSET=16&SID=95WCWq1KwQATIAAF2FeY0d78eafa7c25e97f37d0412e4dda8fe7e&LANGUAGE=EN   They should fit...

    Mini Dac TDA1543 X 4 NOS

Depends. Tonally maybe yes, but detail rendering and air gets a pretty severe hit. After trying this DAC, it only made me want this DAC but with a higher "resolution".

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR

      1) To get the power, you need to pull the power - in other words: when you turn the volume up, you pull more power. When you listen at 20% volume at normal gain, you won't pull more power when you then listen at the same loudness at high gain, with the respective lower volume setting.   2)...

I saw the pics, and i'm not impressed. I bet the original caps for power supply of the IC's are already higher rated than it would have been needed for optimal function. Then he swaps the 1uF film-caps to WIMA's, but also at 1uF.   Just for fun I will solder a film cap with higher...

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR

I have not compared the surround of the THX suite of the Recon3D/Titanium vs. the SBX-surround personally, but i have read enough posts which suggest that they are NOT the same, and that the majority clearly favours SBX-surround over THX-surround.

    Creative G5 discussion and reviews

Can you route the SBX-surround from your onboard implementiation to optical-out? Then you could go optical-in to the G5 for original SBX.

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

When i used an optical cable(amazon basics) for the first time, i wasn't aware that you have to remove the (transparent ) cap.

    Creative G5 discussion and reviews

That's why i suggested to call it BXAE-Surround instead. Only question still is, if the updated 7.1 SBX-Surround of the E5 is different. Anyhow, Creative messed up - also in regards to their response to you, of different devices having different HRTF processing capabilities, since the Omni...

    Ah, it's a max9722. Gives 5mW more at 32Ohms compared to 97220.

I made a pic of the PCB:       The HP driver chip is actually a Maxim max97220(close to the white caps at the poti, which you can't read on the pic tho).   Other observations i made, are that the Opamp runs at +/-5V(they gained one Volt with some diode trick close to the biggest cap)...

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

...and be aware that the price is for a single earpad.   While we're are at it, out of curisosity i ordered the K702 pads for my K712's, but the memory foam pads are worlds more comfy(i wear glasses). So they wouldn't be an option for me, even if they would offer better sound(which they do...

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR

alright, it's indeed there. It's that tiny chip which sits right before the headphone jack(as one would expect) with "AIF" on it.   They also added another one supposedly for the frontpanel connection...

Natural crossfeed on headphones / earphones for foobar2000 v2.1 [major update made public]

Ye, i must say it throws the sound way out of your head, even more than those virtual surround processing which comes with soundcards.   On the other hand it affects SQ quite a bit.   It adds another HRTF(from Joe) to the headphones, which are tuned to have some kind of their own HRTF...

[Impression] S.M.S.L SD-793II Audio DAC + Headphone Amplifier

The more you rotate the vol. knob, the more mW will be delivered to the headphones(to make it simple). 132mW wouldn't be enough only when you wanted to get it louder than vol. knob at max.(yes, fiio e10k can deliver more mW, but only in high gain, where it starts to distort when you push the...
