    AKG K242HD, initial impression...

I'll start with the good. They sound amamzing. I'm not an audiophile so I'll forgo the use of all the buzz words I see here but the improvement over the in ear buds that I have used is amazing and they crap all over the Sony MDR-V150s that have been the main stay on my PC in recent years. The...

Newbie looking at AKG K242HD or Sennhesier HD595

Bit the bullet yesterday and ordered the Xonar Essence STX and AKG K242HD phones. Hopefully I made a decent choice, its very hard to tell with so little info and so few opinions of recent AKG headphones. Four replies out of ninety odd views isn't a lot to work with.

Newbie looking at AKG K242HD or Sennhesier HD595

I suppose I should broaden my search a little. I would like a decent pair of 'phones that work well without an amp, but that will shine when I do have the money to add the Xonar Essence or an amp to my PC. I picked the HD595 and K242 because of availability and price. All of the smaller...

Newbie looking at AKG K242HD or Sennhesier HD595

I mostly listen to music on my pc, and occasionally via a media streamer on my small Sony hifi. I long ago realised I was happier listening on headphones but could never quite find any that were comfortable. After reading a bit recently I think what I need are open or semi open circumaural...
