i can enjoy a minimalist, acoustic album, then put on a tribute album to count basie and enjoy selections from that, and then play some small-group combo stuff (and enjoy that, too) all in the same nights' listening.
it's possible for me to listen to alison krauss, ryan adams, lloyd cole, the pernice brothers, and blood, sweat & tears all during an extended listening session one night and enjoy all of it.
wouldn't be unusual for me to listen to the kronos quartet, tom petty, and then bill charlap during a two-hour listening period.
