    Thanks for the estimate.

    Two iAudio 5 questions

Perhaps I should restate my question in regards to power usage and battery life. Can anyone tell what (if any) bit rate of OGG Vorbis VBR files uses the same power, and thus would yield the same battery life, as 128kbps VBR MP3s?

    Two iAudio 5 questions

I've been planning to get my first DAP, and have mostly settled on the iAudio 5, or I5 as I have seen it called. I have two questions about it, however, that all my research has been unable to answer: 1. It is said that Ogg Vorbis files require more power to play than MP3 files do, but no one...

    Do iAudio players support VorbisGain?

For anyone who has the resources to find out, do any iAudio players utilize ReplayGain/VorbisGain tags if they are present in OGG files?

iPod Shuffle SQ Performance -- Interesting Results Backed By QUANTIFIABLE Data/Graphs

Speaking as someone who's planning the purchase of his first DAP in the near future, I don't suppose some clever person out there with access to one of the Cowon iAudio players, perhaps the 5 or the G3, would be able to post similar loaded/unloaded square wave graphs for it? I'm curious how it...

    Pocket radio buying advice...?

UPDATE: I've now ordered the PX-100's to use with whichever radio on which I settle. D555: What say you regarding my above question about scanning? Also, are either the DT-200V or DT-210V bright enough to complement the reputed darkness of the PX-100's?

How to repair a crackling volume control?

I think this is caused by oxidation of the resistive material, and possible corrosion of the contacts. It's true that turning the knob back and forth rapidly a few dozen times can help, but not nearly as much as contact cleaner. I had a volume control on an old black and white TV that did that...

    Pocket radio buying advice...?

ilikemonkeys: A big "No" vote on the M37V, check. Thanks for the input. iPodophile: No problemo. D555: Excellent comparison, Paul! Thank you very much. It's comparisons like this that are the bread and butter of the Portable Audio forum. I'm currently leaning about 60/40 toward the...

    Pocket radio buying advice...?

iPodophile: The case on the 300 has a belt clip? What I read online was that it came with a case which has a belt LOOP, not a belt clip, and a belt loop is far less versatile. Patchmaster: Thank you for the information. 500kHz is more of a concern. That's a fairly serious adjacent channel...
