Asus Xonar U1 – My thoughts

I recently bought the Asus Xonar U1, an external USB soundcard and thought I'd post my opinions here. The Xonar U1 is a headphone amp and external soundcard rolled into one neat package – ideal for both desktop and laptop use. Many people seem to ignore the sound part when buying or building...

Best open headphones for less than $200?

Thanks for all of the advice guys, in the end though I went for the Sennheiser HD595's. Mainly due to my fondness of their 'sound' and also the fact that they have good support in the UK. Thanks for everyone's help!

It's a shame that with so many open headphones you sacrifice bass. I'm really not a fan of closed phones (especially for home use) so it's something I have to live with I suppose.

Goodness that is expensive, okay that's off my list as quickly as it was on it!

Best open headphones for less than $200?

Thanks for the replies so far. I don't plan on amping straight away so maybe the HD595's will be the best choice. I'd consider the AKG K601's but they will add another £40 to the price of the HD595's. My only concern about the 595's is that there are quite a few comments here that they lack...
