I have a pair of EX70 and they sound much better than the Opus!

I did buy them after reading the review at ipodlounge, and well put it like this I now read their reviews with a LOT more sceptisism... They are crap! Muddy sound, no treble and bloated bass. They are not even "proper" canal phones and doesn't block sound very well.

Or even what "Improved playback performance" means?

No headphone amplifier can "repair" a bad and noisy signal, which is what built-in laptop soundcards usually outputs. Get an Echo Indigo.
