Any decent boomboxes out there?
For the best actual sound you might be better off getting a $30 T-amp that runs off batteries paired with a cheap set of bookshelves. Maybe polks or something, plus, this way you'd have a decent speaker setup when the road trip is over.- Sunshines

Thoughts On My Budget System (Sony Reciever and Fluance Speakers)
I'm sure if you just checked out some of your local thrift stores you could save some money on the receiver, put more towards the speakers. My favorite local one has a new one everytime i head in, and i'm always tempted to get them no more then $20...just saw an onkyo amp there that i need to... -
entry-level bookshelf monitors
With your budget, i would almost assume there aren't any decent pc speakers that could compare in value with normal speakers. As far as thrift store receivers go, they're easy to find and terribly cheap. I just picked a decent yamaha receiver for $20, where as it was probably 200-300 to begin... -
mini rack suggestions
I don't know if this is of any relevance, but i just bought a pair of ikea racks that i mounted onto the legs of my desk rather then the wall They hold my receiver and turntable well enough, plus they look good -
Audiophile Uses For Hockey Pucks?
I have my speakers balancing on a single hockey puck apeice actually (from slavokia of course) I had no idea it might possibly be a good solution...The bass was rumbling through the floor and i assumed rubber would absorb some of the vibration. I should probably grab some extras though so that... -

CD owners how do you store your music?
I was actually at ikea today and had a quick glance over the cd storage stuff. There's not much specifically for storing cd's out of sight, but there are plenty of nice wall mounting racks that hold something like 75 cd's i believe. Other then that, for keeping cd's organized and out of the way...- Sunshines

Best DVD ---> iPod software?
I would also recommend checking out the ilounge forums. I believe they also found a program that would be able to convert files to the ipod format, plus this one's free!- Sunshines
