Suggest new headphones as a step up form the FLATS

Great stuff for sure but their price (nearly 300) makes them out of reach at least for now. Before I pick up a "serious" gear like that I would like to experience something cheaper but still good quality just to have more idea about the things what I like or don't like in a headphone. So...

Suggest new headphones as a step up form the FLATS

Thanks for the info, that's something to be considered... A different beast but maybe have some insights: how do they compare to the Superlux 668b? I know that those are dirt cheap but people are freaking out on their quality/value for the price.

How weak is the bass on that thing? I have a Sennheiser HD215 back at home (won't be available until august) and I'm OK with it's bass altough people describe that 'lacking in quantity' as well. I'm more into extension and quality than sheer force.

Wow, thanks! I see all of them received good reviewes, however the SHP 9500 is only 60 bucks? That really can play on the same level as the others? Because if so then I'm inclined to choose that based on mere financial reasons... Seems "too good to be true" :)

Suggest new headphones as a step up form the FLATS

Maybe I would prefer closed ones (to wear them when other people around) but it's not a must. If an open pair of cans can offer me way better performance then I don't mind the leakage. Isolation is not important since I would use them mostly in silent environment. However, what came into my...

Suggest new headphones as a step up form the FLATS

Hi there!   I'm a happy owner of a pair of JVC FLATS. Hovewer, I would like to take it to the next level.   Since I don't have enough experience to know what I'm really searching for, I don't want to spend illogical amount of money as a hit-or-miss with some upper tier gear. I would like to...

    Sennheiser HD 4.20S Any opinions?

Tried them out in Fry's however the background noise was substantial so take it with a grain of salt. The good: really full, deep, 3 dimensional sound. Great and detailed lows - however sub-bass could be more present. Engaging mids, separable instruments and clean vocals. The bad: with...

    Best on-the-go IEM/light over-ear around 100

Thanks, decent IEM for sure! What are your impressions about the Fiio Ex1 / Dunu Titan 1 versus these versus the 1More triple driver? Any first-hand comparisons? I'm interested since the Fiio-s are "dirt cheap" at 70 USD compared to the ma750, reviews are talking about "holographic soundstage"...

1MORE Triple Driver IEM vs HiFiMAN RE-400?

What about Fiio Ex1 / Dunu Titan 1? They're consideraby cheaper... Anybody could offer a direct comparison?

    Best on-the-go IEM/light over-ear around 100

Thanks for the great suggestions! Did my "homework" and introduced the Bose SoundTrue II to my ears today in a showroom. The sad truth is without the active eq feature of the high-end models the Bose cans just sounded somewhat hollow, plastic-esqe to me. Even the much pricier qc20 was...

    Best on-the-go IEM/light over-ear around 100

Dear fellow music lovers! I'm searching for a decent IEM or lightweight over-ear headphone with great portability around the 100 USD mark. Mostly listening to guitar-oriented music (metal, rock, jazz) but love delicate electronic pieces (even some psytrance) as well. Wold like to use them when...
