Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
Given the demand for these and that the poster says that the seller had at least 2 for sale, some possible things could have occured: Bad business sense at the expense of the seller since he could easily sell for twice that price used given the supply and demand of these phones...- Stil

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
I'm sure you can tie the equation to make it fit. Think of RPM as Frequency, and you can find torque based off of horsepower equation hp = (torque * rpm) / 5252 :) Then you can say the Ragnarok is and x horsepower amp lol.- Stil

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
I think there's a little more to it than that. :) You have to also take into account the HP or torque curve. An example, a small engine with a large turbo can get 400 horsepower, but only very peaky for 1000 rpm or so, the rest of the hp is very low. You can pair that against a 350...- Stil

Yeah not saying which is better until I hear them, just commenting that they definitely are different if those are the DAC chips used.- Stil

Meridian Director DAC: Anyone here own one?
Oh, I didn't know that the Director was actually named something else in the UK. I thought Direct Dac was just a shortening of the name head-fiers used. :)- Stil

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
So basically, from what I'm reading. The MHA100 is a Burr Brown DAC, the D100 is a Saber Dac, which indeed is very different :) Our retailer will have one coming in soon, so hopefully will be able to audition one next to a D100 and see how different they sound.- Stil

Meridian Director DAC: Anyone here own one?
I'm guessing the air and the pro have different USB power outputs. On my Lenovo Carbon X1, which one USB port is "powered" for charging devices and the other isn't fully powered, the sound is significantly different between the two, especially if he's using USB (that will both send the audio...- Stil

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
The power ratings are indeed strange. Do they list the 1 Watt at which impedence rating? I mean if it's 1 watt at 600 ohms, that's 15 watts at 40 ohm. Their specs just aren't specific enough, it seems. We will probably have to wait and see how it measures. I mean, it's 2k more expensive...- Stil

Audeze LCD-X
Check this out on Audeze's site: http://www.audeze.com/technology/tech-tour/audeze-planars It has a diagram of what the Fazor is. Not sure if it's metal or plastic (I think it's plastic), but it looks like it just helps shape the sound waves out and reduces flat reflections kinda like a...- Stil

Meridian Director DAC: Anyone here own one?
Unfortunately, I don't think you can turn the filter on and off directly, unless I'm mistaken. One way is to let your software upsample to 24bit/96khz without doing any actual filters. that would prevent the apodizing filter from kicking in since it only kicks in on 16/44 and lower I think. ...- Stil

Meridian Director DAC: Anyone here own one?
What was the source material? was it CD quality or lower? If so then the Director does have a apodizing filter used in their upper end dacs which brings out a bit more out of those sources and upconverts to 24/96 where the filter noise is supposedly brought into the ultrasonic range. Maybe...- Stil

Meridian Prime Headphone Amplifier Review
I listened to this at my dealer directly comparing the two. I tested using an LCD-X. While the meridian sounded really good (Better than the Director), compared to the D100, it was a bit more clouded/veiled sounding. Sources were from Optical for both units, was listening mostly to rock. The...- Stil
