K 240 Monitor to DF modification
Hi canchet, Can you please clarify a few things? you say " LP DF" - what does the LP mean? And Yaxi pads - can you give me a URL to the exact pads that you use? . . . and possibly a little more detail about the "round foam behind the pads" ? Thank you!- Steve Karl

K240 M and DF - cloth covering for driver?
I tried with AKG / Harmon. It seems they've merged the old part number with the newer and just substituted the same newer "foam disk" for any and all K240 models. I was on phone with someone from parts yesterday after receiving an order I made for 8 of these a few weeks ago. When I opened the...- Steve Karl

K240 M and DF - cloth covering for driver?
Hi - No apology necessary. Yes. But they are incorrect in the long run. It will 'physically' fit, it is 'suitable' - but is not accurate to the original OEM part and would consequently slightly change the sound.- Steve Karl

K240 M and DF - cloth covering for driver?
Thanks for the attempt ... but ... No. That piece is for the K240 Studio. The old K240 Monitor and K240 Diffuse Field piece were only 1 piece of thin cloth. Not foam.- Steve Karl

K240 M and DF - cloth covering for driver?
Greetings, AKG / Harmon no longer has access to the original cloth piece that fits under the inner edges of the ear cushion and covers the driver for the K240 M and DF. It seems to me to be just a piece of speaker cloth, but all speaker cloths are not the same. Hopefully, someone here might be...- Steve Karl

K 240 Monitor to DF modification
Sorry for necro-posting here. I know this thread is really old but I've been doing some listening comparisons. *** K240 M - K240 DF and K702. I just, this afternoon, re-cabled my second set of M (stock AKG cable) and wanted to compare to my first set of M to make sure...- Steve Karl

2 Pairs of AKG K702 - different sound - SOLVED! - Ear Cushions!
Yes! I swapped the ear cushions and that is what the difference in sound is. The scooped sound seems to be because of non OEM cushions. The scooped sounding cushions are slightly harder feeling when squeezing them, and the material they're made from is slightly rougher feeling with a slightly...- Steve Karl

2 Pairs of AKG K702 - different sound - SOLVED! - Ear Cushions!
I did some looking around and it appears that the ones made in Austria have that written on the bottom part of the outer shell. See attached Image ... So, both of mine are made in China - no photos of mine included.- Steve Karl

2 Pairs of AKG K702 - different sound - SOLVED! - Ear Cushions!
I have a tone generator in SoundForge that I could use if I wanted to get more accurate on what the difference is, but my mission isn't to exactly define the difference, just try to discover why there is a difference.- Steve Karl

2 Pairs of AKG K702 - different sound - SOLVED! - Ear Cushions!
Ahhh! Quite possibly - The questionable set with the scoop - definitely China - it has a sticker on the headband, and appears to be newer by the SN: 170288 However, there is no sticker on the ones that sound correct - to my ears and I'd guess they're older by the SN: 145327 I'll guess that the...- Steve Karl
