Monoprice Monolith Liquid Spark - By Alex Cavalli
Very happy with my Liquid Spark. @rayliam80 briefly mentioned the differences in sound between high and low gain earlier in this thread. I have to agree with him. Low gain sounds hefty, spacious, and relaxed--mids are liquid and the stage is deep. High gain is faster, with more incisive treble...- stellarelephant

Starting Point Systems portable NOS DAC
Hi Haden, Cool...is that an RPi with Allo DigiOne hat feeding your SPS DAC? I have gone the I2S route but that does narrow down DAC choices. How are you providing 5V?- stellarelephant

Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3
Awesome pic and description, Nick. Thanks. My goal is to boost low bass without changing the overall sound signature too much, although I would tolerate a little midbass bloat if that was the necessary tradeoff to get some slam. But certainly I want to avoid boosting the treble whatsoever, as...- stellarelephant

Starting Point Systems portable NOS DAC
Hi Richard, You are not the only person out there who cannot look back after discovering the Philips multibit magic. I am getting tons of beauty from my DIY TDA1387 setup after giving proper attention to noise isolation, reclocking, and of course, power quality. I even have a few pretty rocks...- stellarelephant

Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3
I have the Mayflower v1 also. I haven't listened to them for a while, since I was missing the visceral bass slam in my music. I have never opened mine up. Does Mayflower put any tape on there that I have to remove to try the micropore tape? Have any pics? I am particularly interested in this...- stellarelephant

Thanks. I have tried TP, foam, and fleece in front of the drivers. But never felt. I wish he had measured some of the Dekoni pads as well.- stellarelephant

Custom EQ for Sennheiser HD 598 -- LIFTING THE VEIL-- .cfg files included
Onkyo HF Player has some fans, though I don't use it myself. Looks like a gazillion-band 64-bit parametric EQ is included. I don't know if it'll let you input exact Q values for each band, but you could probably just eyeball it based on the middle pic in my first post, and then adjust the...- stellarelephant

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
I don't think you will find the 599 bass too much. If anything, they will probably have "just enough," because the 598, like many open headphones, are a bit light on bass. Enjoy your new cans.- stellarelephant
