LOL - I too am sight-impaired so maybe I'll give it a go with the cans to start...   Where does one find a good source for headphone cable providers?  Straight from the manufacturer?

I haven't really looked or been reccomended a good starting point - would you reccomend either of these places for a kit? Or even better, I have been wanting to modify my headphone cables, is that fairly high up the DIY learning curve, i.e. should I learn something easier first?  

Can anyone think of a good beginner DIY project consisting primariliy of stuff I can walk to Radio Shack and get?    

I've just bought a headphone amp (non integrated) and am looking for a reasonably priced standalone DAC, as I understand it's a bit odd to have a standalone amp plus a DAC/AMP.   I've been looking at the AudioHot line of DACs, and the Pop Pulse.   Any guidance would be great.  ...

So I have some Beyer 880 250 ohms coming in tomorrow and I desparately want to put together my rig as soon as possible.   My problem is not only do I not have a DAC/AMP ordered, I haven'f even made a shortlist of dac/amps dspite hours of research.     I think i'd like to get a darkvoice...

You're right - and no a head-amp bonus is not what I'm after, for sure.  I just liked the flexibility in terms of it being a midi interface/mic and headphone amp/and so on.  I think the allure was in the versatility.   BTW - I've decided not to pursue getting a Maverick....   I gotta buy...
