Thanks mate. Listening now, and even with the stock tubes its so much better than my Darkvoice with more expensive tubes in it. Next step is getting a new motherboard with Spdif, would an adapter be worth it or would it degrage quality?

Can't disagree with your logic, they seem to be working fine. Interesting. Maybe I just got really unlucky with those tubes.
