GR8 uses armature drivers, not dynamic drivers. I have confirmed this with John Grado on the phone. The manual calls it "Dynamic Armature" and maybe this misleads some people to think its dynamic drivers. But no.

I compared a um3x and a Westone 3, using exactly the same foam tips (took it off here and put it on there), the same source, and I wear them the same way, with same fit that I feel. It does roll off on both sides of the spectrum, but "significantly"? No. The best way is for you to try it out. Try it with vocal stuff and you will like it.
