    TDK BA200 Thread

While they may be of similar quality overall, I guess its hard to recommend a dynamic speaker headphone as a replacement for a dual BA. Going by Rin Choi's analysis I guess you could search for a Brainwavz B2 or Rock It R50, they should be in the same ballpark.

You could try to remove the acoustic dampers. They are located under the dust mesh, just pull them out using tweezers. Sometimes clogging of the dampers can cause balance issues, but normally it should affect treble and bass as well as total volume, not only bass. Above that repairing it might...

    TDK BA200 Thread

The BA200 damper was quite easy to extract using the cleaning tool and a pair of tweezers for me, but mileage may vary. The Knowles dampers will be far easier to remove because the metal casing is bent, giving any tool you use a lever to pull on.   Here is a very detailed description of...

You can actually just take a look at the Knowles site, they have a list of distributors for each region.   Mouser seems to be one option, you can choose between different dampers labeled as "Plug, 2.08 dia." from this list:   http://www.mouser.sg/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=dampers   This...

    TDK BA200 Thread

I've read that many are quite successful in using the Knowles dampers to replace and to experiment. The only problem is that they are quite hard to get: I've got to pay 20€ shipping for a 1€ item, thats rough.   Here is the article where Rin tested different Knowles dampers, I'm sure it has...

    TDK BA200 Thread

Fortunately I could manually repair them after they told me to get rid of it. The acoustic damper was clogged here as well, removing it solved the muted headphone problem. I haven't gotten a chance to try the BA100 they let me keep, but I doubt that they are a match for the BA200.   Now I...

    TDK BA200 Thread

Just in case this information will benefit anyone: TDK is apparently totally out of stock of the BA200s. I've only had mine for a few weeks until the left headphone started to fail. TDK service sent me a BA100 as a replacement (they didn't want the old one back). When I insisted on a BA200 they...

Why ebay, with the current discount they are priced really good from the site itself.

Quote:   To be honest, since I returned my Ultraphile a week ago I can't offer you a direct comparison. They indeed look nice and the cable is also very nice. And yes, in retrospect they are also smaller than the XE200Pro. The bass is indeed quite strong and I can't remember any issues...

You mean the Ultraphiles? I think there was some issue with the soldering, the left earbud just stopped working after 5 days. The Ultraphile are Y-split.   But there sound is good, I think not as good as the XE200Pro or TDIII v2 but the gap is not that big.

My XE200Pro, the replacement for my former Ultraphile that broke after just 4 days of use, arrived today. Unfortunately I can't really recall the sound quality of the Ultraphile but I have a feeling that the XE200Pro is a bit better. The bass is good but not overpowering, the soundstage is wide...

I had to send them back, but I do live in Germany so he might only require the "cut the cords" from foreign customers because of the shipping costs.

I found the splitter to be a bit heavy. Thanks for your opinion, Thomas will now exchange my Ultraphiles with the XE200PRO. The J-cord suits me more as well.

Quote:   How high would you rate the differences between the earphones, especially between the XE200Pro, the TDIII V2 and the Ultraphile? I assume you recieved the walnut version of the first one?

Interesting, thank you for your opinion. Are you suire about the similarities between the XSR and the Ultraphile? If only the Blackwood version of the XE200Pro was still available, I'm not too sure about the walnut.
