Hmmm... Is driver compatible with Win8?

@leeperry Do you still use USB with Kingrex MK2 PSU or moved to i2c? There are opinions that XMOS only needs 5V@USB to find the source or something and doesn't really needs USB power for playback. So we can start the full setup, interrupt the USB power (turn that Kingrex off) and start playback...

Guys, can you confirm Eximus's XLR perform better than RCA? I'm on the way to choose an [power] amp and want to make up my mind if its worth to focus on fully balanced design. Musical Fidelity M6PRX seems not bad.

Hmm.. I got mine in april 2013, used driver from the site and it shows 1.22. And mine DP1 had last firmware already. Whats your driver version? AC cables? I'd say DP1 is very sensitive to those. ATM I use handmade Oyaide 22 + Furutech connectors. Its better than some wireworld one I used before...

Did anyone try a newer Thesycon drivers? Its still 1.22 on April's site but you can google 1.63 easy. I mean I'd like to, just not sure if I need the complite driver reinstall (with some components replacement) or just re-register some dll(s)... Thoughts?

Everyone who has no DAC wants to buy it. Everyone who has a DAC wants to sell it. There is review of DP1 and S1: http://www.newambience.ru/assets/files/manuals/April%20Music%20Eximus%20DP1%20and%20S1.pdf It's in russian but you can watch the pics and play the game "try to find discrete buffers...

XMOS needs power supply from USB input, as far as I know.

Best DACs with asynchronous 24/192 or higher USB and volume control? W4S DAC2? Up to $2000.

The head amp in Eximus is not bad. Its "HIGH FIDELITY HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER" actually, so its far from bad. But I have a questions: Is that small chip (with small caps on its output) as good as expensive dedicated class A $1-2k devices? Is it smart (for me) to buy a $1-2k HPs for it? Is it save...

Quote: Already done. It was late night so I'm not surprised. But it doesn't change the things: the datasheet requires 10Ohm resistors at the amp end and if you follow the datasheet you will never measure 0,1Ohm. Damping factor is a great thing indeed but stability and protection are more...

Poorly implemented amplification has around 100 ohms of impedance, while Eximus with good implemented amplification has 0,1? Lets see.... http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa6120a2.pdf FEATURES: 80mW into 600Ω Minimum load impedance 8Ω RECOMMENDED OPERATING CONDITIONS: Load impedance...

Quote: Agreed. I don't see anything like "discrete buffering" between TPA6120 and HP jack. Its the same HP amp like in Xonar ST(X) soundcard. They could call "discrete buffering" a couple of resistors though.

Quote: The first and easy solution is to play with the buffer size in foobar (and maybe ASIO). Next thing you already know - try to use WASAPI output in pool mode. The main goal is to try a different options to find the problematic one.

purk, are you sure you're using USB 2 port? I'd also try either ASIO and WASAPI (pool mode) in foo.
