My Titanium Fatal1ty Pro does NOT pass EAX, CMSS-3D, or the Crystalizer through optical.  Not sure if the HD will.

Windows volume is pretty much my only option, and it's already too loud at 10%.  I could adjust the volume in my music players, and video in game settings, but then general Windows sounds will make me deaf.   Negative on the gain switch.
