DROP + GRELL OAE1
How I feel my head size must be with the Grell masterpiece. Its clearly over-engineered, yet the flaws centre mostly on headband. At max extension, waiting for a little more pad break in to explore a sweeter position which lays just beyond the horizon. Trying a broken in pair, its just a...- SHAMuuu

The Headphone Driver Pics Thread
The wireless airpods had a variety of driver changes. But these wired ones have the little hair things. Which look like the little hairs on other biodyna/biocellulose I'm sure the composition varies and thickness etc since "biocellulose" as a standalone term is misleading thanks to R10 XD I...- SHAMuuu

The Headphone Driver Pics Thread
earpods I was always curious about the driver as there were rumours at one point Foster electric drivers were in them. Can't say for sure, but the driver looks like some paper with suspension system, symmetrical venting Quite amazing for 15 dollar earbuds I really enjoyed them with comply...- SHAMuuu

Sennheiser HD-25 II, but open?
Custom Cans UK did an openback hd25. IiRC they just removed the plastic housing cover, dampening kit, and velour pads. They have video on their channel.- SHAMuuu

JM Audio Editions XTC Headphones
You make some good points. JM has proven to be a competent tuner and builder. I've followed a lot of it. In saying that, for the non informed, its very hard to distinguish what exactly JM headphone is in the context of aesthetics. Like ZmF borrowed design cues but it's very easy to tell a...- SHAMuuu

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
The wood cup reverberations must be doing something. Though you said you added dynamat? This puzzles me a little bit. I obviously have never modded an R10. The thought alone... scary. But I've experimented with Denon, Fostex, E-Mu, and Lawton cups with and without dampening foams I never...- SHAMuuu

Beyerdynamic DT100 (DT 100 or DT-100)
The dt150 pads are very thick. They are nice when they break in but they take forever to break in. The dt100 velour pads are more shallow. Some find its too shallow and use spacers. As for dt100, just stock dt100 pleather or velour. I cant remember specifics on differences ( they're in a...- SHAMuuu

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
I think Dr. Fang Bian has a good ear and he made the Shangri La "for himself" I believe he is a big classical music fan and audiophile while he studied in New York IIRC. Also i didn't get the "full experience" of the Shang according to Dr. Bian standards like with HE-1, and X9K Also, as one...- SHAMuuu

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
What is your expert opinion on amping the Fostex? Very low impedence makes them very challenging to amp (Denon d5k/7k) etc Alsi, VERY SURPRISED you think x9k unnatural. I heard HE-1 twice, and x9k as well, and my ears liked x9k just as much. I didn't think shangri-la was very nice but it...- SHAMuuu

Beyerdynamic DT100 (DT 100 or DT-100)
DT100 are quite nice for acapella and podcasts and such. Very realistic voices. I've had a few versions (including 2k ohm version.) I believe they have 16,400, and 2k IIRC The dt150 is just better across the spectrum for music. With dt100 velour pads even better than stock 150 pleather IMO...- SHAMuuu

Will be cool if you got a cd3k and to hear your impressions vs old King. Also i realized you say Es Labs foam I must have read about another refurbished r10 done by Spirit Labs or something in Italy with magnet upgrade or something along with foam. Unless i dreamt of reading it, ithink they...- SHAMuuu

The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...
I'm a fan of the 6 series, and generally speaking for music listening across all genres, its one of the best. But for very certain music tracks, the dt48A/E (with over ear pads) /480 sound excellent. Not sure if they tweaked the pads I've had several. The rebound characteristics of the foam...- SHAMuuu
