I had a USB powered Modi and a gaming computer. Although the PC can output 200ma to to run the DAC, the signal quality was really bad compares to adding a schiit wyrd and jitterbug in between to give a linear 200ma power. The sound of gaming PC + USB powered DAC is the worse pairing I ever...

Its not the loudness which makes the difference, but how 3D the sound stage is, how analog and smooth and detail well extended. Plus how well the interface is coded and integrated for the DAC.
