    true adudiophile card?

I think it's time to mention that Head-Fi's motto is something along the lines of "We're sorry about your wallet".

    true adudiophile card?

If by true audiophile card you mean a high quality construction gaming-capable soundcard then the answer is probably the $180 auzentech prelude along with whatever extra hardware you prefer. Other people here with far deeper pockets than I will be able to help you pick out pretty much whatever...

    Source engine games settings

Ages ago I remember reading the debate over the right settings to get good positional audio in source games, with the result being to set windows and source at 5.1 surround and the x-fi to headphones with CMSS enabled. After trying that for a while I figured it'd be worth going to 7.1...

What's with the bump inside HD595's?

I figured. it just pokes my ears in an uncomfortable way, i guess i'll get used to it eventually.

What's with the bump inside HD595's?

It's solid and quite hard so I don't think it's part of the speaker and it's shaped oddly (and too hard) for something designed to hold your ear. Does anyone know what it is or does? (picture for anyone wondering, you can sorta see it in the back side of the ear socket.)

    HD595's without an amp

So for ampless gaming use it's a tossup between the AD700 and the HD595's

    HD595's without an amp

So I've got the opportunity to get a new pair of HD595's for a very nice price, question is are they worth it if I'm not planning to ever buy an amp or should I stick with the AD700 or HD555's I was planning to get. (90% gaming headphones, so clarity and soundstage while spitting out 4 billion...

Looking for some new gaming headphones

What would really be nice is if there was some kind of hearing bot that you could run through a test designed to see how well the headphones do for positional audio in games, problem is that's so personal that there's no way to objectively measure something like that.

Looking for some new gaming headphones

Aye central florida, that's why I think i might be able to find some of these in a store and give them a feel first. Maybe some of the high end places down by millenia might have them.

Looking for some new gaming headphones

That basically settles it then, either the HD555 or AD700. Any care and storage instructions I should know about? I live in CFL so it can get pretty hot and humid sometimes, I can keep them in a shoebox with a desiccating packet if they've got humidity sensitive parts

So it's not a necessary component for proper functioning equipment on a computer like it is when trying to use big headphones on a AAA powered mp3 player.
