    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

The print flaking off with time on T1 is common, at least on the 1st gen models (probably 2nd gen too). When the print started flaking off I just scraped it away completely with my fingernail (looks better without it), this is how that looks now: The print on a 880 Pro looks like this...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

I got a DT880 Pro Black Edition today. I'm wondering about the durability of the paint/print on the grill. Will the print flake/wear off like on some of Beyers silver grills (T1 for example)?

The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

The headband on my 1st gen T1 is in poor condition, so I would like to replace it. Beyerdynamic are asking an absurd €278 = $313 + shipping for a new T1 headband assembly!. For that much I would just rather buy a new cheaper headphone. However I discovered that they are selling parts to the...

If it is any help, with my WA22 and Beyerdynamic T1 headphones, I have noticed some hum with most Sylvania 7236 tubes I have tested (approx 16 of them, used condition and allegedly "NOS"). This when compared to RCA 6080WA tubes that I use for reference (I have a lot that I know is truly...

A nice new DAC2 from Benchmark showing at RMAF

Impressive, when it comes to features this has everything I want. My only complaint is the look/design of the thing, I know I'm being superficial but the DAC2 doesn't look like a $2000 device. When it comes to my desktop setup, I want something that not only sounds good but that I can also feast...

    WOW!!! I gave J River a try...

Reporting back that I ended up switching to JRMC. Mainly because JRMC has a more stable GUI and a lot more features and customization options. I used to think it was just "bloat" and features I would not need, but I was wrong.

    New Benchmark DAC1 HDR released...

^ Good that's assuring to hear, a neutral dac is what I need.  As I have a tube amp, I prefer to have the source neutral, so that if I want to "color" the sound I can do it by swapping tubes :)

    New Benchmark DAC1 HDR released...

I'm currently saving up money for a Benchmark DAC1 HDR, the main reason why I'm leaning towards this particular DAC is the features, small footprint and that I like the looks. So just a sanity check, is there any reason why I would not want to pair one with a WooAudio WA22 amp?   One thing...

    Cambridge DACMagic, anyone? (THREAD II)

^ No, Windows 7 64bit has native support, you don't even need to install any drivers :)

    Explain your avatar

My avatar is an image of a paper-craft crane inside an inverse Japanese flag. It is an variation of the band Tokyo Incidents (東京事変, Tōkyō Jihen) logo, a Japanese (rock/jazz/shinjuku-kei) band started by Ringo Shiina. It's my favourite band at the moment :)   (for those curious, for a sample...

    WOW!!! I gave J River a try...

J River Media Center 17 is great for videos, but when it comes to music I prefer MediaMonkey 4. Mostly because MM4 feels faster to use for browsing a large collection, and it's better for tagging albums/tracks.

    Cambridge DACMagic, anyone? (THREAD II)

Functionality and performance wise it is not a problem, it's just that it looks tacky

Which headphone should I take for Metal Music?

Quote: Maybe we have different definitions of harsh and brittle, but I don't think metal sounds harsh or brittle live, and when I listen to enjoy music I try to recreate a live like sound experience. The T1 and the DT880 are slightly too analytical and bright IMO for metal without a...
