I tried getting a custom profile, but luckily I don’t seem to have any significant hearing loss - in the 2-4khz range -4dBs. So maybe also a reason why I prefer Balanced Tone. Then again, I never thought the JH13s needed tweaking.

I think this is related to the "sound check", have you enabled this feature? If yes, try turning it off.

Just did the demo on the JH13s and I prefered normal stereo to the DSP.

Yep, same thing happened to me. But, its said that the crossovers do require burn in time.

Sorry I can't read the whole thread. Has anyone been able to compare the JH13s to the SM3? I know this is an apples vs oranges comparison, but it seems to preform very well.

LOL @ the avatar, I agree though, the isolation is okish. Not on par with etymotic though.

Do you need any isolation, if not, I'd recommend the MS-1 for this music. The reason for this is that the sound is more airy due to the open design.

What music do you listen to?

I guess computer screen wipes without any alcohol would do the job.

Here is another option: hf5. I really hope they'd fit in your pricing scheme, as IMO they are great IEMs. I prefer them over the RE0, because they have a thicker sound and they are very accurate. They have superb isolation, I dare to say unbeatable, but on the downside have a smaller soundstage...

You cannot compare apple and oranges. The k450 is a closed on-ear heaphone, with some decent SQ. Its very upfront and in your face, but in a different way than the grado sound (or to some extent the ms1s). Now if you want portable, sturdy, non-source dependent and good sounding headphones, get...

IE8 - for the soundstage and timber CX95 - because it was my first expensive IEM JH13 - sounds good with anything

IMHO, now you are just letting him off. I know he tries very hard, but the constant repetition is more than enough. Hence, this is not a low blow, merely a wake-up call on that there are other headphones, other people and a variety of different opinions here on head-fi.
