You can actually buy some pretty good pre-built desktop PCs at fairly reasonable prices now. It's a slightly older video, but the system isn't half bad.

Interesting mod. How do you get the stock pads off? I did bend the headband a bit, and it seems to help. I may actually take your advice and stick with getting just the DAC/Amp for the time being, see how it sounds, then upgrade later if I still feel the urge.
