Well, I did that as well using decals but I ran into the problem of keeping it centered all the way down. Unlike many designs these don’t provide a way to tell where the center of the knob is.- rkindel

I connected my Max to the preamp outs in balanced mode and then out to my power amp in balanced mode. I do not need to power up the Max to pass a signal. If I hook it up before the preamp I do need to power it up to pass a signal.- rkindel

I haven’t gone through all the posts here so if this has been addressed here before I apologize. The one thing I would change on my Loki Max is the knobs. Impossible to see the center mark from my listening position. I would like to change them out but I’m afraid I might damage it if I just pry...- rkindel

You don’t have to power it up unless you need it. I’m like you in that I don’t need it most of the time. But if you need it you need it.- rkindel

Schiit Freya Impressions and Tube Rolling Thread
It took two Freyas before I got a reliable unit. The first on gave out loud popping sounds when in tube mode. The second one would revert to passive mode when in tube mode. The second time was the end of my Freya+ problems. Mine has operating for 2 years now flawlessly.- rkindel

It’s not that hard to dial in changes once you we the hang of it. Having a hard time coming up with uses for the three presets though, other than one for returning to flat. Each circumstance calls for a unique setting. Generally big changes aren’t called for, especially if two or more...- rkindel

I went back and forth between the + and the S. I rarely listen to the tube stage. Too colored for my tastes but use it more now that I have my Loki Max. I think tubes are nice now as another alternative. I really like the passive stage personally.- rkindel

I just upgraded my Pangea AC14SE power cord with the twice as expensive XL version. Shocked (no pun intended) by the improvement. More transparency and refinement. Dynamics are improved and bass timber is much better. Here is a example where more money definitely gets you more. My Benchmark DAC...- rkindel

Can anyone tell me how to remove the knobs? Seems like you would just pull but I don’t want to break anything.- rkindel

I commented here earlier about the differences I heard between active and bypass modes. I did some comparisons between them using single ended input because, unlike balance, single ended volume levels match in my system. I discovered that the null points on both the 20hz and 150hz are way off...- rkindel

Yes I do. First there is a difference in volume levels between bypass and not bypassed but flat. Makes no sense to me but bypass is lower in volume using my Freya + in passive mode but also when using the tube stage. Also true when using single ended input fed by a Mani. I have also noticed...- rkindel

Loki Max + 1 week I have spent the last year concentrating on room set up. Inches count with speaker and listening position. For variety I alternate between two different speaker brands. Both sound best aimed directly at the listening chair in terms of soundstage. I have been forced to toe out...- rkindel

Whenever you reduce high frequency content you will experience a apparent reduction in resolution. That’s inevitable. The trick is to be judicious with your settings. Easy does it.- rkindel
