the new cowon iaudio players has been getting good reviews as far as superior sound quality.

battery life is 12hours music and 3.5 video. zune looks less and less appealing to me as more info is revealed.

google + rockbox = www.rockbox.org its a firmware replacement . theres pluses and minuses to it. less battery life, no video support, but supports better codecs.
