  1. Sennheiser HD 428 Headphones

These were actually my first pair of mixing headphones. I can definitely say they worked for me at the time, but this is also the time I did not acknowledge the importance of EQ & compression. I don't know a lot of terms, but I'll say that the "inner-sound design", in comparison to my other three pairs of headphones, is a little bit more meshed together; centers are more pronounce & dynamics aren't very golden. Basically, perception of stereo space sounds "filtered", & the EQ is boxy. Doesn't mean you can't still use these headphones to achieve some...
  2. Bauhn Noise Canceling Headphones

I've had these headphones for a while. I don't use these to mix necessarily, but when I want something different to with a fairly sensual amount of low end, I grab the AHP-1192s.   That's pretty much what these headphones are good for; Noise cancellation, & bass. But even the bass isn't as clear as you'd want it to be because of the lack of EQ. Other than that, if you want listen for stereo space, dynamics, & clarity in the mids & highs, you might as well forget about it.
  3. Bose®AE2 audio headphones

    3.50 star(s)
I've been using the Bose AE2s for at least 3/4 a year now, & having made music on these headphones really invoked me to stereo/binaural mixing styles. I can always count on mixing a good pop, smack, or punch to percussion when using these headphones. One of the only main things about them is that the bass isn't as present as you would want it to be. Other than that, you've got a pair of cans that can really bring to front the high quality in music.
