Any benefit or harm in using a ε22 for β22?
I had been planning on using the ε22 back board for the β22 I am building, but I am reconsidering. The reason I would not is mainly for style, but also I had been concerned that the sound quality would be worse with the ε22 back board. The opposite also concerns me, that the quality would be...- Reighlok

Does encoding to a higher bitrate improve the sound?
I have been concerned the other way around. Rather that re encoding a lower bit rate file into higher one (especially of a different codec) would hurt the sound. It seems like it can only make matters worse, unless for some reason your dac or dap is just phenomenally better at decoding one type...- Reighlok

What's the low down on Binaural Beats?
If you are looking for the science, I would check this out. But to summarize my understanding, it is "bunk". If you are trying to wake up and feel more energized, why not listen to some nice techno music?- Reighlok

Is the benefit from balanced from the amp or headphones?
Common knowledge around Head-Fi seems to be that balanced headphones sound better than there standard TRS brethren. Why? (As always, I am sorry if this has been addressed before. Especially if it has been repeatedly answered.(background: I am planning on building an AMB beta 22 next month...- Reighlok

Impedance, Induction, Active ground, Three separate questions
B0dhi: Al conductors? Hmm. I do not know how I feel about that. Nkk: I certainly was confusing impedance and resistance in my original post. I was just assuming that if I pulled out a multimeter and checked the resistance of my Grado and AKG headphones they would read 32 ohms and 600 ohms...- Reighlok

Impedance, Induction, Active ground, Three separate questions
As always, I am sorry if these questions have been asked and answered a million times each. 1st question: What causes some headphones to have a higher impedance than others? My AKG K240DF's are 600 ohms, and my Grado 325is's are 32 ohms. 600/32 =~20. So, if the impedance is solely caused...- Reighlok

digital optical cable for headset
Looking at the manual it does not seem like it. To connect the mic it looks like you have to plug in a wire from the headphone controller to the game controller. For a PC or a PS3 you have to plug a USB cable into the computer/game console. Also, the manual refers to the optical only being audio... -

Magix levitation feet vs Feet of Silence
Patrick, are you still using a traditional hard drive? Have you considered the vibration caused by the moving head and the rotation of the platter? You could replace it with a solid state drive and remove vibration with that. Also, do you have to stock fans in the laptop adding to the vibration...
