    A Fi X 2A3, Wright Sound WPA3.5, or Welborne Labs DRD45 amplifier with a pair of Horn Shoppe speakers would give you a nice sounding system on the cheap (< $2500 purchasing the equipment new).

    You should try the amp with NOS 45s, which can be purchased for not much more than a pair of EH 2A3s.
