Mission: Replace the HiFiMAN ear pads with other brand ear pads
Seems I was wrong on that one, oops. Though I assume that the Audeze adhesive ring, like most adhesives, wont't stick again if you take the pads off. Is the Audeze mounting ring sturdy enough to survive a removal so that you could reglue it with some additional adesive in case the pads need...- Razzcal

Mission: Replace the HiFiMAN ear pads with other brand ear pads
I haven't tried the Audeze pads, nor do I have Audeze headphones, but it is my understanding that no other brand uses similar mounting rings to the Hifiman ones, so if you want to mount non-Hifiman pads (e.g. Audeze pads) you will need to use the mounting rings from Hifiman pads. Also, the...- Razzcal

Mission: Replace the HiFiMAN ear pads with other brand ear pads
So, a quick question about Hifiman earpads. I know that the mounting rings on the old hifiman pads are easily removeable, but on the angled VelPads (stock on the HE400S) they are glued on. How are they on the FocusPads? From photos it looks like they might be removeable, but couldn't tell for sure.- Razzcal

And I toatlly agree that the cool looks are just a bonus, not the main point. So I probably won't bother with the effort required for the ID grills. They just caught my eye as a good-looking and relatively low-cost option. Maybe I'll try them out some day if I feel like I have extra time on my...- Razzcal

That's not what I meant. I'll naturally be taking the stock grill out, but I would like to keep the mounting ring that clips on to the housing and keeps the grill in place. Apparently with the InspiredLaserDesign grills you can't use the mounting ring, and have to rely on friction alone to keep...- Razzcal

Okay, so seems I didn't read the thread carefully enough, since upon closer reading I found that it is indeed the case that the grills are too thick to use with the plastic mounting ring. So I'll rephrase my question. Do the guys who have used those InspiredLaserDesign grills think that it...- Razzcal

So I just recently bought a pair of HE400S headphones, coudn't resist at the price they were being offered at a local electronics store as they were permanently ditching the model from their inventory :D Also oredered a pair of FocusPads, and will probably do this mod too. I've been trying...- Razzcal

RHA MA750i with Iphone case
Okay, so I got my MA750s today so I can make some observations. Just to get this out of the way: they look awesome and the build quality seems really good. The headphone jack on them is certainly noticeably thicker than 'normal', but not as thick as I thought it would be based on the photos, and...- Razzcal

[Not-So-Poor Man Reviews] Dita Answer (Truth & Regular Editions)
Nice writeup! All the good press the Ditas have received here really make me want to give them a try.. Also it would be interesting to know how the Ditas compare to the Senn IE800, which many consider the top-dog in dynamic driver IEMs at the moment. So if anyone has experienced both that would...- Razzcal

RHA MA750i with Iphone case
I think that the jack on the MA-750s is a bit slimmer than the one on the Shures, though not by a lot. I own a pair of Shures (SE425) and the jack is quite massive. I've ordered the MA-750's, but still waiting to receive them so can't really say for sure, but based on the photos it does look a...- Razzcal
