Skeptico Saloon: An Objectivist Joint
Super expensive cables often test terribly by all the measures that Gizmondo article mentions. That's why they rarely make any objective claims with their products. They don't say it conducts electricity better. They go for arguments that try to shame the buyer. If you spent enough money...- RapierApe

Skeptico Saloon: An Objectivist Joint
Well, some people probably will jump on them and call them phoney. But no one will pay attention. And none of the skeptics will spend $2000 on a USB cable and waste a weekend performing proper testing. I wish someone would. It would make it a little harder to sell BS! But I ain't got no...- RapierApe

Skeptico Saloon: An Objectivist Joint
Problems with test: 1) 5 is not a large sample number. If 5 people randomly picked numbers between 1 - 5 you'd be surprised to find how often 3 or more of them had the same number. I think they usually pick #3. 2) Bias from test administrator, if all 5 of the subjects used the terms...- RapierApe

What is the best/hottest deal you ever got on headphones?
Fostex T10, rare vintage orthos, $20. Dude had no clue what they were. Maybe stolen? Shure SE310, $20, store demo unit. They have a ridiculously short cable and were never meant for resale.. I'll have to get them recabled someday.- RapierApe

First Post! KSC75 drivers.....in a HD555
With Kojaku's mod you cut the bowls in half, so the end result is much closer to your ears (though probably a little further then with comfies). The sock sticks out just a little farther than the ...sponge type material?, so the soft cotton makes contact with your ears. I also found that...- RapierApe

Orthodynamic Roundup
So a couple years back I see these "Fostex T10"s on Kijiji for $20. They look to be in mint condition, so I google it up, and see all kinds of you folk are loving these old orthodynamic things. Of course, for $20, it was a no brainer. My first question is for this guy: dBel84, I've tried...- RapierApe

First Post! KSC75 drivers.....in a HD555
With the bowls there is a direct path between the driver and your ear once you've removed the cloth material. I like the sound, but with all my hair, and cats and dogs bouncing around the place, and the vacuum habits of a proud bachelor, I just end up with hairs touching the driver too...- RapierApe

First Post! KSC75 drivers.....in a HD555
And thanks Cat with surprisingly large headphones. As long as no one is killed I'll consider it a success, but it would be really cool if I ended up with something that sounds good!- RapierApe

First Post! KSC75 drivers.....in a HD555
-This is to answer the question about my Grados.....next time I will use the quotes! I've tried pretty much everything but woodies and a recable, here's a recap: 1) Went from comfies to bowls. For me they are more comfortable, preferred the sound in every way. 2) Punched holes in the...- RapierApe

First Post! KSC75 drivers.....in a HD555
Hi world. I've read a lot on Head-Fi, mostly crazy advice on modding Grado's and vintage Orthos. One of the drivers crapped out in my HD555's the other day. Lost all bass and developed random crackling. Turns out the driver had come lose and had gotten banged up pretty good. Tried to...- RapierApe

Koss PortaPro Driver testing
...And I believe the SportaPro has the exact same drivers as the PortaPro, where as the KSC75's have the "titanium-coated" version. Highs have a little more sparkle on the titanium drivers, but the difference to my ears is subtle. Some people prefer one, some people prefer the other.- RapierApe

Koss PortaPro Driver testing
Hey! First post! I've have both the SportaPros and the KSC75's and can confirm they have identical clips. You can use the KSC drivers on the SportaPro (what a stupid name?) headband, and the SportaPro drivers on the KSC clips. They attach in the same way so no alteration required. From...- RapierApe
