@OP, have you been able to compare noise cancellation between modded and non-modded ? I wonder how this mod impacts the performance in that regard.

Ah, mine are already broken in, I bought them used actually. Ok I won't give up then.   I got a question regarding the SMC connectors some people used to do their calbe mods. Which ones should I buy ? I read that some do fit without any grinding, and others that don't.

Thanks for the feedback David. It makes sense. The other thing I can do is go SMC, then make a pigtail from SMC to TRS for portable switchable use, and mod the original cables with SMCs. That way I have somewhat best of all worlds. Thanks, I'll post some pictures of whatever I end up doing...

  What I like about jacks is that when yanked, they disconnect and don't ruin anything. That's what I liked on my old V moda M80. That's also why I don't know about those SMCs. what do you guys think ?
