It depends what your music source is. I play mostly off the SD card when mobile and via Roon when at home. Playing via the SD means all the "hard work" is being done by Poly, I keep my phone locked and only unlock it to change albums which uses a negligible amount of battery

Any of them is fine, if your headphones connect using AAC you may hear a very slight difference between an MP3 and AAC file, a FLAC file assuming CD-Quality or higher will get down converted to AAC when the audio is sent to the headphones

I guess that's the best way, just allow them to stretch for a while. I know it's a fairly common complaint with Sennheiser that they clamp a little too firmly
