Why would activating it be an issue? Also, if it is an issue, does removing the SIM card from an activated iphone make a difference?

There are various ways (hardware and software based) to emulate MCh with headphones, but they all differ from the Realiser A16 in one critical area, in addition to emulating MCh through HP, the A16 emulates specific rooms and speakers through the HP.
