Have you tried muting all unnecessary inputs and outputs in your volume control panel? Placing the sound card as far as possible from other cards in the PCI slots could help a bit too.

Just to give an alternative the Casio Exilim series has been praised. I think the cameras use Canon's excellent optics (like many cameras these days).
