Low Budget Vinyl Source
I have found a few turntables on kijiji that look alright. Some input would be great. Denon DP-37F - Is being sold with a bunch of other stuff, doesn't want to sell it piece by piece. But I may be able to convince him otherwise. Not sure how much he would want/I should pay for it. ...- QRanc

Used turntable advice.
After further digging through old threads I found exactly the advice I was looking for. Regarding used turntables, that is. Any help with the cost or availability of a new motor for the Debut would be much appreciated.- QRanc

Used turntable advice.
The motor on my Project Debut 3 recently packed it in. I'm sure I can fix it, but I think I might rather a bit of an upgrade. I have foud a used Pioneer PL-530 in mint condition. I guess I'm just trying to make sure that I would actually be upgrading. Now I know I'm going to be told to...- QRanc

hey you indie-types, discuss some music, local scenes or whatever
The scene here in Winnipeg sucks. So I have to cross the border to see most of the good shows. I agree that Brooklyn has a pretty good scene going on right now. So does the nearby scene of Brattleboro, Vermont. Two great bands are out of there: The Weight and King Tuff. King Tuff is... -
DIY Phono Preamp Stage
After looking around for a while, the only case that seemed to fit was a Lansing enclosure. Which is what Hagerman offers with the preamp. So I wassted quite a bit of time with that. I'm thinking I could build one though... I would just need to find a piece of aluminum for the top. I...- QRanc

I'll be going with the PCB. I'll try PTP one day, but not quite yet. I'm still divided on what to do about the case though...- QRanc

DIY Phono Preamp Stage
Alright! I've decided on the Hagerman. Now the only problem is finding tubes. After looking fairly extensively, I've rules out NOS. I'm not spending $300 on a pair of 12ax7's. Does anybody here know much about the new production tubes. They're are all about the same price. I've found Mullard...- QRanc

Bored with my Hip Hop collection:
I got pretty big into Hip-Hop for a while. I was actually listening to alot of the Def Jux stuff you are listening to now(Can Ox, El-P, etc.), along with Blackalicious and stuff like that. I was getting pretty bored with it, so I started listening to more rock a gain. To be honest, I've never... -
Best drum albums?
No matter how good a drummer/percussionist is, they wouldn't be able to hold my interest for more than 2 minutes. Drum solos suck. -
Albums you look forward to in 2009
The Warlocks should have a new album out by spring....but I'm probably the only one here who cares. -

Pearl Jam - "Ten" Re-issue in 09
Not sure, how Pearl Jam has gone off the deep end. They just give their fans (who are the most rabid, devoted fans I've met) what they want. Personally I would never spend $140 on a Pearl Jam record, but I'm just a casual fan of theirs.
