This is the quandary.  At listening levels with the 600's it seems like I may be overdriving the little amp.  I'm thinking the K5 will get the nod and then I will have that for nightstand use / office desk use etc.  It is inexpensive enough that if I do find it helps with any clipping then I may...

LOL. Right you are sir. I never use the 600's while flying so as you say, just use the x3 for flying. With iem's it is perfectly fine. I'm just all caught up in the new "This sounds awesome, what else can I do" part of this sickness. Not my fault. I'm just a guy. I'll find something else...

The K5 does look like a perfect fit for the HD600's and it very well make the cut for my office at home. I'm thinking the E12 for portability on planes and in the field. Thanks for the heads up on the K5. Paul

I am loving the sound. However this is my first DAP so I may be very biased towards it. I downloaded some dsd files and they of course sound amazing. :D

Looking at the specs the E12 should be better able to drive the 300ohms of the HD 600's. I was hoping to see a bit of improvement in SQ by not driving the amp in the X3 so hard. Having said that, I am very happy with the sound so far. This is my first DAP and the first time running the HD 600's...

I have to agree. I had a bad experience with tequila when I was young. Now it all smells like old gym socks to me. It has to be very good quality to be able to even make it past my nose let alone down my throat. Easier just to stick with a yummy single malt. Balvenie 12 Doublewood this time.

This sounds like something that could be experimented with as a home brew type of drink.  Most iced tea drinks are too sweet as you say but a fresh unsweetened iced tea and bourbon start and then adding to taste would be a good afternoon killer...  :-)   Paul
