Question about the Fostex HP-P1 and Algorythm solo
To expand on this, other devices take an analog line-out signal through the dock cable while the CLAS/HP-P1 extract the digital data (and subsequently process it themselves). It requires different hardware on the receiving end of the dock cable.- Pomp

Portable Amps and LODs
Bump for curiosity. I've been wondering this also (assuming OP is referring to iDevice LOD->usb/3.5mm)- Pomp

Suggestions: Dahlquist DQ-10 transition to headphones.
Is anyone able to comment on the soundstage of the HiFiMan HE-500 or Beyer DT880/600ohm? I believe I'm leaning towards the Beyers for the sound I'm looking for (based entirely on anecdotal reviews ), but if the HE-500 is far and away better at imaging then I could be dissuaded. Thanks.- Pomp

I'm assuming very few on this board are familiar with the DQ-10's, so I'll try to be a bit more specific with the sound signature I'm after: 1. Extremely clear treble: bright, airy, and flawlessly detailed without sibilance. This is preserved through the mids/vocals but the bass begins to...- Pomp

Quote: Heh, you beat me to most of my own questions. I'm assuming you don't own the AKG's, but appreciate the additional comments on the HE-500. Indeed, these will be "horizontal lounging" headphones as my wife likes to put it, so as long as they are comfortable enough for ~2 hours of...- Pomp

Indeed. I've never heard speakers that 'encompass' you in the music as much as these. I'm not expecting any miracles here on the headphone end, especially at this price point (<$800), but I do hope to find something that would be a worthy substitute for their response and timbre. The...- Pomp

Quote: The DQ-10s have the same love-it or hate-it following! Also, the rebuild from the guys at Regnar is simply fantastic, if that is what you're referencing. I noticed the HE-500s and understood them to possibly give a sound signature similar to what I was looking for. Can...- Pomp

Hello, I have a pair of power-hungry Dahlquist DQ-10 speakers driven by a Krell KAV-400xi and a Martin Logan subwoofer to round out the low end of these notoriously treble-heavy speakers. I couldn't be happier with this setup and am looking to supplement it with a pair of "mid-fi" (<$800)...- Pomp

New Beyer DT1350
As a long time lurker and first time poster, I find this to be exceedingly useful information whilst I shop for new portable cans. On a real note, I'm curious if anyone else has had first-hand experience with this issue.- Pomp
