Why should I forget the on ear? I know a number of people who have a preference for on-ear headphones vs over ear. How will she find out if she's one of them or not?

Might I suggest that you look for 2 different sets of headphones. A lighter wireless headset for work, and a quality set of headphones for music/gaming.    There's a good deal of headsets that cater to phone support and telemarketer needs. Light, unobtrusive headphones, sometimes wireless...
