Advice on best isolation headphones
Hi guys, Thanks for the fantastic input. I went ahead and paid the extra few dollars and bought the Etys 4P. I've had them for about a month but haven't tried them yet as my next flight is in about 3 weeks. If they isolate the noise like I hope, I'll be a happy camper. Otherwise, you'll be...- Phantom

Anyone Know Isolation of MDR-EX71SL?
Goo point. Oh yeah, I got confused with what the guy from Shure posted a few days ago about the E2c. He said that the foam tips have 20-25dB, and the triple flange and flex sleeves have 15-20dB isolation; I erroneously assumed that the E2c came with all three but in fact it doesn't. Maybe Shure...- Phantom

Anyone Know Isolation of MDR-EX71SL?
I'm not interested in the sound quality but the ER-4Ps specs. indicate that they isolate a lot more than the ER-6s. I considered the Shure E2c but then again, they isolate 15-20dB (triple flange) versus 20-25dB for the ER-4P. I think the ER-6s have about the same isolation as the Shure. What I...- Phantom

Anyone Know Isolation of MDR-EX71SL?
I looked everywhere and could not find the isolation in dB of the Sony MDR-EX71SL. I'm not an audiophile but I'm looking for earphones with the best isolation. As of now, the Etys ER-4P is top on my list at 20-25 dB external noise isolation. Does anyone know the isolation of the EX71SL? Even the...- Phantom

Value of Used ER-4P
I've reached the point in deciding to purchase the ER-4P and use them only on airplanes. After I purchase them, it may be 2-3 months before I get to try them on my next flight and decide if they are comfortable enough for me, and whether they decrease airplane noise enough to hear my stories...- Phantom

Cord on my Ety's
I just looked at the Ety site and it states that "The ER-4P has a new cable. The cable is of a different construction, and uses a different insulation material that is softer and more pliable. The goals were to reduce the mechanical cord noise and improve the flexibility and appearance." Does...- Phantom

Opinions on Shure e2c vs. Etymotic ER-6?
Dunbar, Thanks for taking the time again. I looked at previous posts but still couldn't decide. I was looking for something more definitive from someone who has used both, like you. One last question if you don't mind: For basic listening (stories and some music) while flying (wanting the...- Phantom

Advice on best isolation headphones
Wondering whether you made a final decision. I too have been looking for the best isolation earphones and was considering the Etys, the 4P, but then noticed the Shure E2c with 23dB of isolation vs. 20-25dB for the 4P. For what I want the earphones for (hearing stories and some music during air...- Phantom

Opinions on Shure e2c vs. Etymotic ER-6?
Hey guys, I'm thinking about the same earphones. However I'm looking for the best isolation. If I understand the specs right, the E2c has 23dB of isolation vs. 15-20 on the ER6 and 20-25dB for the E4. I'm wanting to use them primarily for air travel, listening to stories and some music. In your...- Phantom

Anyone Used In-Ear Noise Protection and Etys?
I was thinking about buying the ER-4 until I tried in-the-ear hearing protectors, rubber like and 3 flanged style, purchased at WalMart for use at gun ranges; I found these hearing protectors very uncomfortable and was wondering if anyone can tell me whether the discomfort from these hearing...- Phantom

Advice On Ety ER-4P vs. ER-6
BDA_ABAT, I was initially looking for noise-cancelation headphones so I could clearly hear recordings from my inexpensive casette player while flying. Then I thought that I would like quietness to relax, take a nap or meditate. I found that noise cancelation headphones will cancel the constant...- Phantom
