Guys, can you recommend a cable that sounds similar to the stock cable, that basically doesn't add more treble and improves other aspects? I like the LCD-3 with the stock cable as they sound full-bodied and with a well-balanced treble. I wouldn't like a cable to add more "clarity" or brightness...

The knob on the Virtuoso is attached differently, so the cloth method wouldn't work I think. I talked with Dennis from Burson, but he basically said I just need to pull it out with force. To me this seems impossible unless there's some specific method or something else that needs to be done...

Guys, does anyone know how to remove the volume knob? I am trying to replace the volume board with a new one, but I can't pull out the volume knob. Supposedly, it just needs to be pulled out forcibly as it is attached very firmly to the unit, but I still am unable to do it.

What you guys are saying is that the only place for lossy audio is to be played on laptop speakers and cheap headphones, which I don't agree with. Does it make sense that one who spends a lot on cables and other gear should also invest in lossless audio? It sure does. But what I don't get is why...

Why do some people have an urge to totally dismiss lossy audio and portray the difference between lossless and lossy as so big and dramatic? The reality is that highest quality lossy and flac aren't that different at all and that a lot of us can't even detect the difference. So what's the point...

It's more on the neutral side, slightly warm if it's with the Burr Brown DAC. I am using V1, though, so the V2 may be a bit different. As everyone said, it's a great match for LCD3 - Burson makes them sound more spacious, sparkly and energetic.

Burson Conductor pairs best with the Audeze, as the amp is more neutral/bright and the LCDs have a lush sound. My Grado PS1000 also lacks warmth on most recordings with the Virtuoso, so I can see how Utopia (based on what I read about it) would have the same issue.

Agree with you completely. I have both and LCD3 is in a different league; the sound is very rich and realistic, with great dynamism and tonality. HD650 is a fine mid-fi headphone, but nowhere close to LCD3.

I think my PS1000 is from the very last batch of the non-e version. Bought them brand new from an official Grado dealer last year, the serial number is 41xx.

I wasn't happy with the initial impressions, either. But they changed dramatically with the break-in. Give them a couple of weeks or so of break-in. I find them extraordinary.

I also find it hard to imagine a veil on PS1000!
