If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
@EtyDave With some devices dropping 3.5 mm ports, has there been any discussion at Etymotic about what will be done if TRRS really becomes deprecated? Also, perhaps I missed it, but did you ever follow up on the possibility of performance degradation of ER4 transducers with longterm use?- OceanGuru

Given what you've said, I think my old ER4 can stave off the soul-devouring void for awhile longer. For what it's worth, my next audio equipment purchase will almost definitely be an ER4SR (even if that is a year or two from now). That was always the case once I heard something was going to...- OceanGuru

Well, that's not the kind of answer that is going to sell me on a $350 purchase! However, it occurs to me that I may have been less than clear in what I was asking. The balanced armature transducers are a mechanical component that, to me, seems like it would degrade in performance overtime with...- OceanGuru

Thanks for compiling and expanding that into one post. I'd gleaned a pretty good understanding of what the accuracy score actually meant from following this thread the past couple weeks, but I'm sure this will be very helpful if someone missed some of your other posts. I can certainly...- OceanGuru

So, maybe I missed something, but I've looked all over the product page for the new models and I don't see exact accuracy scores for either. The old ER4 has it for all three variations under "Technical Specs", but that row is just absent for the new models. The only thing it mentions at all for...- OceanGuru

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread
I never liked the stock firmware or iTunes, so all of my experience has been with Rockbox. That could be why I had those issues, but I've never had a problem with my rockboxed Clip Zip disconnecting though I took the microSD cards out when doing file transfers to them.- OceanGuru

You mean where I cut the hole in it? Here you go. I also had to cut out part of the frame to make room for the card's passage. Even with that I need a pair of tweezer to get cards in/out, but it works well enough for my purposes as I only need one card at the moment.- OceanGuru

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread
From my experience with an iPod Classic on a hard drive, it likes to commit suicide midtransfer by disconnecting leading to filesystem corruption. This in my experience necessitates reformatting the drive and transferring everything again. When I switched to using an SDXC card I actually...- OceanGuru

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread
Perhaps I was not clear in my post. I am using the Tarkan bundle with the 2000 mAh battery in a 7G with the 6G thick back plate with no problems so far. I will note that taking a closer look at it now the back plate curves a bit around the area where the thickest part of the adapter contacts...- OceanGuru

I was able to get the 2000 mAh battery from this listing to fit with a setup similar to what you describe. It was a bit tight, but nothing broke despite having to open and close it again after my initial try due to a misaligned cable. I've been using it for a few days with no issues yet.- OceanGuru

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
I currently have an ER4P and an ER4S adapter. I'm interested in trying out the ER4B, but don't have the budget to track down and purchase an official one. So, I was wondering if anyone here has experience with one of these and can confirm that it works...- OceanGuru

Audioholics
Thanks for sharing this. The reviews look to be as good as you say from the few I've read. However, the Audioholics store does carry overpriced cables which raises some concerns. https://store.audioholics.com/cables.html?order=price&dir=desc- OceanGuru
