    Heh I have this setup.  The rationality behind having a sub, is to feel the bass (instead of hearing it).  If you have open headphones (such as HD600's), you will be able to hear any audible bass from the subwoofer, and if not placed in a acoustically treated room, will degrade the bass quality...

    Is it safe to buy a HD600 off Amazon?

    I bought a 'used' HD600 off amazon through its marketplace.  Contact the seller and you will get an idea whether they are fraudulent.  My HD600's arrived in very good condition (new pads, no chips in paintwork etc.) at £155.10.  You can decent deals if you use common sense.
