Let the L-pads vs. G-pads debate begin!

I don't think the maple itself is changing color, I think it's the finish that changes colors.  I overhauled my Polk SDA speakers and re-did the veneer in maple, then I used tung oil to finish it.  The tung oil has turned a beautiful honey amber color.  But that's the oil, not the wood.

I actually had a problem with mine - one of the drivers caught a buzz, so to speak.  Sent them back to Grado and they fixed them under warranty.  Just got them back today and they are back to their glorious self again!  I also replaced the Ortofon 2M Black on my VPI Prime with a Grado Statement...

I wouldn't sell those G cushions.  I've been pretty vocal about preferring the L cushions to the G cushions in the majority of cases.  A while back, I wrote that I prefer the L cushions about 80% of the time, with the G cushions getting the nod only about 20% of the time.  I still stand by that...

Very true.  If they're going to sell something and label it as a limited edition, it's only fair to tell people just how limited they are.

Ok, we have some common ground finally!  That is spot on.  The bass from the GH-1's certainly is not overpowering in any way.  But it has a refined presence unlike I've heard in any other Grado.  Quality, not quantity.  Precisely.

I do agree that they have a much firmer bass presence without being overstated.  And agree that I like their sound better than the LCD-3.  In fact, when I got my new amp I liked my 325i's better than the LCD-3.  So I sold the LCD-3 and got one of the few pairs of GH-1 that were still out there...
