defbear -   Yeah I guess a Windows tablet is an alternative to Android. I'd prefer a 7~8" tablet anyway, because can see more of your catalog of directories - folders - files on the bigger screen, compared to a mobile phone. And - there's the option of digital out over the HDMI port.

What is the sample-rate and bit-depth of digital audio at the USB output of an Android device (phone or tablet)? eg. 16 bit / 44.1KHz, 48KHz, 96KHz... ? I think the Apple iOS devices are all 96Khz! Is it a fixed standard, or vary between manufacturers of Android devices? Thanks.
