I'd probably go out listening to monitors at your local pro audio shops. If you were in the US, I'd say Guitar Center and George's Music. No idea if they're up in Canada, but I'm sure there's someone similar.

How many poles are on the aftermarket 3.5mm plug? Though I'd probably get in touch with the cable maker and arrange a swap.

If you're liking Beats but want something a bit more refined, consider the SRH1540. Powerful bass out of the box, convincing mids, fairly well extended highs and a good sense of air and openess for a closed back headphone.

No experience with Grados, but I can say the MSR7 is very detailed.

I tried both recently and preferred the M2 overall (sound and comfort both), but thought the P7 had the better highs.

PM-3 fits the bill of great bass, imo. Present and has some punch and detail, but is well controlled.  The planar magnetic tech does well here. Very good mids too, though I was missing the highs a little. But as always it depends, if you're looking for tremendously boosted bass, they may not...

The ATH-MSR7 are excellent. Subjectively they've beaten a number of headphone for me. SRH1540, m70x, B&W-p7, x2, and even the PM3. Objectively, the measurements over at inner fidelity are extremely impressive: clean square waves and impulse response, very low distortion across the board, ect.

I think that soundcard supports dolby digital live and/or DTS connect encoding. In which case you'd enable one of those (DTS preferred if possible) and hook up from your Auzentech to your Yamaha by coaxial cable. If you insist on using the Auzentech, that's the only way you'll be getting...

Odd request, but, could someone measure the inner cup for the HP50? Thinking about trying these, but the ear cups might be a little small for me. Not sure, but I'd appreciate it certainly.   Also, anyone tried the AKG K550 and the HP 50 and could offer some quick comparison thoughts?
