    Kinki Studio Vision THR-1

I found the magic with the THR-1. Using it as power and my Kinki EX-M1+ as pre. Amazing. I see now why so many here use the THR-1 as power pre'd with a tube amp or some other excellent pre. It has a fantastic synergy with the Susvara. I'll share more detailed thoughts soon, but I can already...

    Kinki Studio Vision THR-1

Is there any information on the preamp section on the THR-1? I’m finding that it amps the Sus with more authority when using my Kinki EX-M1+ in preamp mode versus using the THR-1 as both power and pre. Edit: Mmm it seems I need to spend more time with the THR-1. It is surprising me at every...

    Kinki Studio Vision THR-1

I recently picked up a THR-1 from a friend of mine to listen to for a bit. Initial impressions are very good. It is surprisingly musical, somehow finding a way to rearrange the 1's and 0's to present my music in ways new to my ears. Early standouts are stage, bass and mids. I can understand why...

Hi these excellent bookshelfs are up for sale again. I went through a long period of uncertainty as I really enjoy them. I recently moved house and no longer have the same use case for them, therefore I am finally ready to sell. Price is $1k excl. PayPal fees. A few long standing members here...

    dCS Bartok

After much internal debate I have come to the conclusion that the Susvara is too close to perfection (for me) to risk giving it up. The Bartok has raised the experience to levels I did not know a headphone could achieve, and the synergy with the Kinki amp nudges it even further up the scale. So...

Good points, thanks. To some degree my journey is not too far removed from yours (referring to the less is more concept). My primary listening is on speakers. I turn to headphones mostly when my wife threatens divorce come late evening. I will start proceedings to make the change from the Sus to...

The Susvara sounds fantastic. I don't find it overly smooth. The thing is that the Sus does limit (future) amp options, which would not be the case with the Elite. I'm driving the Sus with the Kinki integrated and an HE XLR adapter. I don't need multiple headphones for different moods as I once...

Thank you. I think I am going to list my Susvara in the classifieds as a sale or trade. I have heard the Elite, albeit for a short while, and I really enjoyed it. Edit: This is a big decision for me as I enjoy the Susvara a lot.. but the Bartok has changed a lot of things for me (unexpectedly).

I have contemplated selling my Susvara and buying the Meze Elite, or offering an exchange via Head-Fi classifieds, but I'm hesitant because I fear the Elites may not bring me the same joy that the Susvara does. However, the Bartok is making me rethink many things, this being on of them. I see...

The Bartok gets the Sus loud enough but the sound is thin and lacks dynamics. It is far from excellent (my opinion). I really wanted the Bartok to drive the Sus properly, and I gave it many a chance in the hope it would, but compared to the Kinki, it’s two worlds apart (in favour of the Kinki...

The Bartok headamp does not drive the Susvara anywhere close to its potential. With Bartok on DAC duties and Kinki EX-M1+ as amp, the Susvara sings from the rooftops. I know there are conflicting reviews on the Bartok driving the Sus, but having had a glimpse of what the Sus is capable of, the...

Lovely setup. I didn't see your signature (until now). I'm not sure you can squeeze much more SQ out without significant spend. Slightly off-topic so please forgive me, but may I ask your opinion on the EtherRegen? It's been on my radar for a long while.

In this case your Ethernet is already well treated. You would add a media converter at the router end, something like a TP-Link MC220L with a SFP module. Then run fibre to your EtherRegen, which would also need a SFP module to connect the fibre. Then a short Ethernet run out from your EtherRegen...

@dstubked if you stay on Ethernet to the Bartok, a good interim tweak could be to add 2 media converters with a fibre run between your router and NUC - preferably with the media converters on LPS. I have had good results since doing this a while back.
