Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

This has probably been discussed to the death in the thread, but I recently got back into a bit of FPS gaming (CS2 and Tarkov) and really like using closed-back headphones for it. Since I have a family I need to keep some sort of tabs on, I dragged out my old GSX1000 just to get the side-tone...

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

Good points I guess. While PUBG ofc has some kind of audio processing (it outputs 5.1 if given the chance for instance) I find that trying to add a layer of VSS ontop of it wreaks havoc on the sound image and makes discerning anything a mess. Running normal stereo (from a HW/Driver point of...

I still find the Mobius to be insanely good for positional accuracy in pure stereo, beats any combination of DT770/GSP600/K712pro/HD700 connected to NuAudio/GSX1000/XonarEssence. Sure, there is an audible hiss when they are quiet. They get hot. They push on the ears slightly (even with gel...

The thing with competitive FPS gaming is that a huge soundstage is less important than accurate imaging and the ability to detect approaching enemies. I know I've written it before in this thread, but that's a reason I can't really use my K712pro for PUBG. The soundstage is HUGE (even in pure...

    Audeze Mobius review / impressions

Yeah, I figured as much looking at the Mac date. Still, the latest patchnotes are from May and refer to v5 - the latest official download states it's updated in September, and is still v5... but "beta". It just needs to be a tad bit more clear imho - but what do I know. :) Edit: ...Turned out...

Thanks for the help! It clearly states that it was last updated "9/4/19" though. I don't doubt you and I'll download it, but I just wished Audeze were better in their communication...

I appreciate it being "up", but where? The blog referring to Firmware Update still states that the firmware is taken down temporarily.

Yeah, I have it turned off - thus my stereo statement.

Correct me if you will, but isn’t the Creative G6’s virtual surround also a ”software solution”? I thought the last hardware-based framework for virtual surround died out with EAX.

Someone will disagree with me I’m sure, but my take on the K712 for gaming is: It’s great for CASUAL gaming, movies and music. They are great sounding cans and the soundstage is huge, but I found that - at least with my setup - the imaging isn’t very good. They are very left/right in their sound...

Agreed. Having my wife sit at the computer next to me with her damned Cherry MX Blues... Closed is where it's at!

Ordinary 2.0 stereo, no 3D. I mainly play PUBG and Mobius 7.1 makes everything utterly whack. :) 48k and usually default or footsteps mode.

Thanks for the feedback/tips. When I was referring to Sennheiser I was talking about their boom mics on headsets like PC360/GameOne, hardly an "expensive microphone" I'd guess. I used EqualizerAPO to boost the mic level before I swapped mic. :)

I've updated the firmware a few times, and I tried a foam pop filter. Compared to the microphone that Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic offer the sound quality is just slightly worse I'm afraid, and I need to literally keep it in my mouth for it to pick up sound properly. I wish Audeze sorted all of...
